This is a tandem programme incorporating both sight-reading and phonics. It takes an interactive approach where all senses are involved through learning to blend different sounds, analysing the sounds and syllables in words through hearing and word building games. Words decoded are used within the context of a sentence to ensure comprehension.

 

Graded readers are assigned weekly for reading practice. CDs are provided for reinforcement and home revision. Graduates of this programme read independently by sight and through phonics.

 

The Litte Owls Reading Programme, incorporating phonics with sight reading, has proven successful in helping many young children to learn to read and develop a love for books. It helps them to develop clear speech and good communication patterns. By the end of the programme, the children will have mastery of a wide vocabulary that wil enable them to do well in school.
